                                               Research Thesis and Detailed Outline

Thesis:  Since it was first discovered, HIV/AIDS has left a lasting turmoil upon mankind. This disease has not only affected the people’s health, but has left a hole in their pocket, labeled them as outcasts in society, and forced them to receive backlash from media and religious places.

Body Paragraph #1: Introduce what HIV/AIDS is and how one can get this disease. I will describe the science behind how HIV/AIDS can attack a person’s body.
Body Paragraph #2: Describe how society views or viewed people who has HIV/AIDS and what kind of treatment they receive. (use article “the Impacts of AIDS on People and Societies”, from this I will give a story of someone who has gone through the hardships of living with the disease in their community.)
Body Paragraph #3: Discuss the economic impact having HIV/AIDS can have on a person such as paying for treatments and how this leads to long term economic issues. (use article “Poverty and the Impact of AIDS on Older Persons: Evidence from Cambodia and Thailand”)
Body Paragraph #4 : Discuss the economic impact HIV/AIDS can have on a country, how their can be a decline in a country because HIV/AIDS requires a lot of research. (I will use the report “The Long-run Economic Costs of AIDS: Theory and an Application to South Africa”.)
Body Paragraph #5: How media has portrayed HIV/AIDS through history, describe the negatives and positives of media towards the issue. (Two articles Popular Media for HIV/AIDS Prevention? Comparing Two Comics: Kingo and the Sara Communication Initiative” and use the TIME article “The Photo That Changed the Face of AIDS”.)
Body Paragraph #6: This is a counterclaim paragraph that depicts the clash between the church and use of condoms in order to prevent HIV/AIDS. They believe praying will solve the disease. (will use article Thirty years after AIDS discovery, appreciation growing for Catholic approach”).
Body Paragraph #7: Treatment currently available for HIV/AIDS and what kind of research is being done to find a cure.
Body Paragraph #8: Wrap up report and give precautions a person can take in order to protect themselves from getting this disease.
*  The remaining paragraphs are similarly structured and developed in meaningful manner: claim followed by evidence in parentheses
