The Never Ending Possibilities in Science
In the TedTalk I believe that the message Adam Savage was trying to spread was the importance
of having curiosity. Curiosity is the key to being a great scientist or any other professional because it
shows that you're not only satisfied with the results, but have a drive to want to learn more. I was
very surprised by the example Adam Savage gave about Richard Feynman because it was his
curiosity that allowed him to prosper. Feynman was able to achieve great success (winning nobel
peace prize, going to Princeton, MIT etc.) and it all had been because he had questioned the
movement of the ball to the back of the wheel barrow. As scientists it is very important that we have
curiosity because there is always room for improvements and more research to be done when it come
it scientific studies.
Another key point that was important in the Ted Talk was when Adam Savage called science an
“open field”. When we are doing an experiment or research, we should never just think about the
facts that were given, but think about other solutions even if they might seem silly because we never
know if they will work unless we try them. As Adam Savage pointed out anyone has the chance of
making a discovery because the other famous scientists who did, were just like us “except they
thinked a little bit harder”. When it comes to science we have to think outside the box.
