Reflection on First Draft of Research Paper
Research Draft
In my first research draft I used different course learning objectives in order to write a good
first draft. First, I used different databases to find more sources that would enhance my paper. I used
JSTOR, Google scholar, and MEDLINE. These databases helped me find sources that contained
information on variety of topics such as HIV/AIDS economic impact on developing countries and
current solution to the epidemic. Also to better understand what HIV/AIDS was, I went to the CCNY
library to find a book on the topic. With the help of a librarian, I was able to find a medical book, that
I will use in my research paper. Lastly, I also used the internet to find more sources and was able to
find credible websites, that contained case studies and surveys.
When writing the first draft, I decided to change the layout of my paper. I did not like how my
outline structure was, so I changed some paragraphs and included new evidence. For the new layout,
I believe it makes more of an appeal to logos. My next step, will have to be to conduct an interview,
that will be used towards making an appeal to pathos. I also need to make my paragraphs more
appealing, so that that audience is better engaged. I feel as if some paragraphs are too long and I
need to break them down. Overall, for my final research report I still have a lot to work on and the
peer-review will allow me to see what I need to improve on.
